Yellowing of silicone sealants is mostly caused by external environment.
The volatiles of cleaning agents and other building materials such as adhesives, paints, and seals, as well as newly renovated houses, may release aldehydes and other substances. These volatiles can easily cause the colloid to turn yellow. In addition, in the same construction area, multiple brands and types of glass glue are used at the same time. If there is no ventilation after the construction is completed or the sealant is not completely cured, detergents are used to clean it, and strong ultraviolet rays will also accelerate the yellowing of the sealant. How to avoid it? The most important thing is to strengthen indoor ventilation in daily life, especially in newly renovated houses, to reduce the concentration of volatiles.
It is recommended to clean the place where the sealant is used immediately after use, and try to avoid contact between silicone sealant and chloroprene rubber (Neoprene) or EPDM rubber (EPDM) type sealing strips, gaskets, etc. If it has turned yellow, it is recommended to re-apply the sealant.
