The weather has suddenly become very cold recently, and there may be rain and snow. When extreme weather occurs, how can we avoid some problems and avoid stepping on thunder when applying sealant&adhesive to ensure the construction effect?
First, strictly control the quality procedures. Before construction, confirm the product batch number and production date of the sealant, and use it within the shelf life. Don't be afraid of wasting and using products that have expired for a long time, which will not be worth the loss.
Second, the cleaning process should be careful. Find two clean rags and stack them together to clean the dust and mist on the surface of the substrate to ensure that there is no condensation on the surface of the substrate; then use the adhesion promoter to wipe it, which can not only remove the oil and dust on the surface, but also improve the adhesion between the glass sealant and the glass, and improve the bonding effect.
Third, strictly control the gluing process. According to the construction environment, it is usually not recommended to apply below 4°C, because the curing speed will be greatly reduced and the probability of bonding failure will increase if the temperature is below 4°C; if construction is really necessary, the maintenance time should be appropriately increased.
Fourth, flexible gluing methods. In winter, it is cold, so it is more difficult to apply glue, which is tiring. You can heat the glue appropriately (using a heating pack, oven, or the simplest method of soaking in hot water, etc.); or use an electric glue gun to save time and effort.
Fifth, post-quality control. After the appropriate maintenance period, the on-site substrate should be inspected for glue tapping, and a peeling and bonding test should be performed to confirm the bonding of the sealant on the project site.
