The real glass sealant is composed of sodium silicate, acetic acid and organic silicone. It is mainly divided into two categories: silicone sealant and polyurethane sealant (PU). The glass sealant we usually refer to is silicone glass sealant. It has excellent weather resistance such as ozone resistance and UV resistance, giving it a long service life.
Glass sealant is suitable for weatherproof sealing of various curtain walls, and is especially recommended for weatherproof sealing of glass curtain walls, aluminum-plastic panel curtain walls, stone dry hanging; as well as joint sealing between metal, glass, aluminum, ceramic tile, organic glass, coated glass; as well as joint sealing on the surface of concrete, cement, masonry, rock, marble, steel, wood, anodized aluminum and painted aluminum. In most cases, primer is not required.
Sealant is usually made of dry or non-dry viscous materials such as asphalt, natural resin or synthetic resin, natural rubber or synthetic rubber, etc., with inert fillers such as talcum powder, white clay, carbon black, titanium dioxide and asbestos, and then added with plasticizers, solvents, curing agents, accelerators, etc. The main sealants on the market now are: acrylic acid, polyurethane, silicone, polypropylene oxide.
It is an adhesive used to fill the gaps in the structure to seal. It has the functions of anti-leakage, waterproof, anti-vibration, sound insulation, heat insulation, etc. It is mainly used for various seams that need to be waterproof, including exterior wall filling and structure, glass stone prefabricated panels and curtain walls, kitchen and sanitary ware joints, etc., as well as various seams that need to be airtight, including air conditioning pipes, doors and windows, etc. It is divided into stone sealants, mildew-proof sealants, fire-proof sealants, pipe sealants, etc.
Weatherproof sealant is a single-component, neutral-curing silicone sealant designed for weathering sealing of various curtain walls. It has excellent weathering resistance. After artificial accelerated climate aging test, the physical and chemical properties of the sealant have not changed significantly.
It can be divided into building sealants, automotive sealants, insulation sealants, packaging sealants, mining sealants and other types. According to the performance after construction, it can be divided into two types: curing sealants and semi-curing sealants. It is mainly used for weathering sealing of various glass curtain walls, weathering sealing of metal aluminum plates and enamel curtain walls, concrete joint sealing, roof construction joint sealing, etc.
Structural adhesive is a kind of adhesive with high strength (compression strength>65MPa, steel-steel positive tensile bonding strength>30MPa, shear strength>18Pa), can withstand large loads, and is resistant to aging, fatigue and corrosion. It has stable performance within the expected life span and is suitable for bonding strong structural parts.
Structural adhesive has high strength, peeling resistance, impact resistance and simple construction process. It is suitable for bonding the same materials or different materials such as metals, ceramics, plastics, rubber, wood, hollow glass, etc. It can partially replace traditional connection forms such as welding, riveting and bolting. The stress distribution on the bonding surface is uniform, and there is no thermal effect and deformation on the parts. Structural adhesives are widely used in engineering.
Silicone adhesives are divided into two types: acidic and neutral, that is, they are divided into two camps: "sealants" and "structural adhesives". To distinguish which category glass glue, sealant, weather-resistant glue and structural glue belong to, in layman's terms, adhesives exposed to the outside can all be considered as sealants. As long as it is an adhesive that plays a structural fixing role in indoor components, it is what we understand as structural adhesive. Weather-resistant adhesive and silicone glass adhesive both have a sealing effect. Structural adhesive has better weather resistance than weather-resistant adhesive. Generally, the price of structural adhesive is higher than that of sealant.
