The sealant construction is not standardized, such as the dust is not cleaned before gluing, the sealant is not applied too much, or the size of the glue joint is too short, etc. These may lead to problems such as the sealant not being firmly bonded and failing to achieve a sealing effect, and ultimately leading to the failure of doors and windows. Water leakage occurs.
When constructing door and window sealants, as a consumer, you can pay attention to these contents on site or during acceptance:
a. Foam and dust should be cleaned before applying glue. If there are water stains (it is recommended to postpone construction on rainy days), they need to be wiped clean until the water dries. Otherwise, the glue will not adhere well and may easily lead to subsequent leakage problems;
b. When the exterior wall adhesive adopts a rectangular cross-section, the thickness (width) needs to be about 6 mm; when a triangular cross-section is used, the thickness needs to be about 8 mm;
c. If the door and window frames are spliced, or pipes, strips, etc. are used, glue and waterproofing must be applied at this location. The construction requirements are the same as above;
d. The upper, lower, left and right edges of the outer window sill, as well as the joints and other locations, can also be glued to improve the waterproofing effect of the window sill (especially if the outer window sill is older, and the outer window sill is made of stone or ceramic tiles) Wait for the situation, but it may slightly affect the appearance);
e. Indoor doors and windows generally use glue in two places. One is that the indoor glass and pressure lines do not need to be glued but glue. The other is that if the doors and windows are installed after the house has been moved in, the indoor openings will be closed directly with glue. At this time, due to environmental protection considerations (anti-aldehyde, etc.), the indoor glue can be used with a higher environmental protection level (two types of indoor/outdoor sealants are available);
f. When preventing water leakage, it is necessary to ensure that the exterior wall glue has a smooth and beautiful appearance to increase the visual experience and avoid indiscriminate glue application and less missed glue application. If consumers find that the installer's application is unsightly, difficult to deal with, or the area is difficult to apply, they should ask the installer to apply masking paper first and apply glue again;
g. It takes about 1-2 days for the sealant to dry and harden. During this period, on-site construction personnel should be reminded not to damage it by accidental contact;
h. If there are subsequent constructions such as tiling, window sill boards, etc. on the exterior window sill, the glue needs to be replenished after completion;
